Title of Presentation: The role of ICT in language assessments

Description: Assessment is inevitable for all the language classroom teachers as a tool to evaluate students' learning; a guidance to adjust teachers' teaching program as well as an evidence to report to parents on their children's overall progress. Traditionally teachers rely heavily on pens and paper for most assessment.
With the introduction of 1:1 teaching and learning, teachers can be very creative in terms of their ways of assessments for listening, reading and speaking. Attendants to this workshop will firstly gather good strategies and principals when writing their exam papers, then they will have a good opportunity to overview and compare a collection of exam papers from beginners to higher levels from various schools that include four macro skills. Lastly, they will be shown various web tools that can be used in their classroom. They will learn how to save time in marking and recording for certain assessment. Web tools used are google form, GoChinese, Quia, Quizlet, Audicity, Voicethread,dropboxes,…etc.
